Almost there... This is the last "content" module for the course. Two key components of collaboration is to make your partner look good & to "plus" ideas. So, take the tasks for this module in that spirit and take them in any direction you want.
Module 3 Project
By the end of the module, create and post a project. Your project should apply what you have learned during the module to your classroom.
Theme 1: Reading
Read the following articles about connecting students online & discuss in your Edmodo group:
Asynchronous Discussions
Blended Classes
Hybrid Classes
Theme 2: Personal Learning Network
The focus for your PLN explorations during the next two weeks is on identifying and possibly participating in web-based professional development. Although paid PD is still important, web-based opportunities are continuing to grow. Take a look at live.classroom20.com, NSTA Webinars and NSTA Podcasts to see what webinars, podcasts, etc. are coming up. See what other online PD you can find. Try to participate in one. If schedules do not jive, try to watch an archive. Post your reaction to Edmodo (or your blog)! [NOTE: If you teach chemistry to middle school kids, make sure you check out this.]
More ways for science teachers to get connected.
Theme 3: Web Tools Exploration
So far we have explored tools to collect and organize and tools to create. This week we finally get to the most important category...tools to collaborate. These are the tools that have the biggest potential for transforming your classroom and your teaching. During this module, explore and add to the collaboration tools, create a third potential project for the school year, and browse and comment on your classmates' blogs.
Looking Ahead
July 30 - August 3 is the last week of this course. I would like to use that week to showcase the projects that you are planning for the school year. Please start thinking about how you can creatively describe your projects (5 minutes or less) to the rest of us! You will need to post this early during the last week so that we all have time to view and react.
